After a week away at tennis camp, Jamie appears to have gone through a complete personality change. The family is amazed at her unusual display of affection. The Powells discover that Jamie and her friend Kimberly have fallen under the spell of Abba-Khan (guest star Charles Nelson Reilly), a guru they met at camp. Buddy, who is familiar with the guru's practices, informs Charles that Abba-Khan is a fraud who attracts young people with his teachings about love so they can give him all their money.

Charles is assigned to be a teacher's aide in Jamie's health and hygiene class much to Jamie's consternation. Charles introduces himself to the teacher, Mr. Merken (Jerry Van Dyke), who has a tired and negative attitude towards the students and teaching profession. The next day in class, Mr. Merken hands the class over to Charles who is extremely nervous. The topic is human sexuality, and Charles cannot bring himself to openly name the anatomical parts. Jamie begins heckling him to such a point that he assigns her three hours of detention on Saturday -- the day that Jamie is to cheerlead the football game.
