Cartoon characters, He-man and Skeletor, are played by real people in expensive costumes. The cartoon show was for kids, but this big budget live-action picture is too violent and adult-oriented for the very young.
Ross decides it's time to get his life together, and plans to get his own apartment. Incredibly, Ugly Naked Guy is moving and his apartment's available. So Ross, Phoebe and Rachel go over to take a look. While they're there, Phoebe and Rachel spot Monica and Chandler across the way, and Phoebe finds out what's going on. Rachel and Phoebe decide to mess with Chandler and Monica, so Phoebe pretends to have a crush on him. Monica realizes the only explanation for Phoebe's sudden attraction is that she knows about Monica and Chandler. So they decide to have a little fun of their own, and Monica makes Chandler play along with Phoebe and her advances. Phoebe and Rachel eventually realize that Monica and Chandler must know that they know, so they push the envelope further, trying to get the two to confess. Phoebe suggests she and Chandler get together at his place and have sex, and Chandler, under Monica's guidance, agrees. Phoebe comes over to the apartment, where Monica is hiding in the bathroom, and begins the seduction. When it becomes apparent that neither is going to back down, Chandler retreats to the bathroom where Monica gives him a pep talk. Phoebe runs out to the hallway, where Rachel and Joey are listening at the door. Panicked that she hasn't broken Chandler yet, she asks for their help. Joey, in one swift motion undoes her blouse to reveal her bra, saying that bras frighten Chandler. Phoebe and Chandler return to the living room, both determined to win this battle of wills. As they force themselves into a painful, awkward kiss, Chandler finally jumps away from her, saying he can't have sex with her, because he's in love with Monica. Monica then tells him she loves him too, and the two share their first kiss in full view of their friends. Meanwhile, Ross takes desperate measures to get Ugly Naked Guy's apartment, and then invites his boss over to show him how stable he is, in hopes of going back to work. But ju
Monica attends one of Chandler's work parties, where she is exposed to his fake work laugh. Laughing at his bosses lame jokes, Chandler insists that it's just something he has to do. The two then play a tennis game with Chandler's boss and his wife, bringing out the ultra-competitive side of Monica. After pummeling their opponents in the first games, Chandler asks Monica to let his boss win a game. Monica refuses, so Chandler must make an effort to lose the game. When he succeeds, his boss invites he and Monica over for dinner. Once again Chandler fake laughs at all his bosses jokes, until Monica tells him that she can't stand seeing him this way. Chandler finally stands up to his boss and doesn't laugh at his joke, which greatly upsets his boss. Realizing he's in trouble, Monica jumps in and 'explains' the joke to Chandler, then they both fake laugh for his bosses benefit. Meanwhile, Rachel tries to get Monica to admit her romance with Chandler. But Monica continues to lie to her in an effort to keep the relationship a secret. Frustrated, Rachel finally goes over to Chandler's apartment to confront them, and overhears Monica telling Chandler how difficult it is to keep lying to Rachel, since she's her best friend. Touched by what she's overheard, Rachel decides to leave quietly, but accidentally trips over a cord and knocks a lamp over on her way out. Monica comes out of Chandler's room and sees Rachel, then both women make up lies to conceal what they're really doing there. Rachel' pretends she doesn't know that anything's going on, and Monica pretends that she's there cleaning.
Phoebe's grandma dies and the gang attends the funeral. While greeting guests and handing out their 3-D glasses, Phoebe meets a man who claims to be the deceased's son ... making him Phoebe's dad. She coerces him into meeting her, and tells him that she's his daughter, and asks him why he left her. He says he was a terrible father, and that even the songs he made up to try and get her to sleep only made her cry. She asks him to sing one for her, and realizes that it's set to the same melody as 'Smelly Cat.' Meanwhile, Joey has a big audition and goes to Rachel to help him dress for success. She convinces him to carry a new unisex bag, that greatly resembles a woman's purse. Soon Joey is attached to the bag and all it's compartments, and begins to take it everywhere. Finally the gang convinces him to give up the bag.
Set in the years following World War I, three brothers find their relationship strained when the youngest sibling returns to the family's Montana ranch with a beautiful fiancee.
Just as Ross prepares to tell Rachel how he feels about her, he finds out that she lost Marcel while babysitting him that day. When the gang learns of the disappearance, they go on an all-out search. Rachel and Monica are surprised to find a girl they snubbed in high school working for Animal Control, and she is determined to have Marcel destroyed to get back at them. Suddenly it's a life or death situation. The gang finds him first (he's been taken in by their creepy neighbor, Mr. Heckles, who has dressed Marcel up as 'Patty' and is pretending it's a different monkey), but the Animal Control woman shows up moments later. Luckily, Rachel is able to convince her to look the other way, and Ross gets to keep his monkey. Meanwhile, Ross gets over his anger at Rachel and tries again to express his feelings for her, only to be interrupted by her ex-fiancie, Barry, who tells Rachel he still loves her.
Rachel, Monica and Phoebe convince the guys to teach them to play poker and when they play, the women lose big-time. They demand a rematch and bring in Monica's aunt to teach them a few things. They lose the rematch as well and demand a re-rematch. Meanwhile, Rachel has an interview for her 'dream job,' a buyer position at Saks. During the final poker rematch (where Rachel and Ross duke it out for really high stakes), she gets the 'rejection' phone call prompting Ross to let Rachel win the hand...
A washed up rock and roller turned wedding singer is jilted at the alter and turns into the nattering nabob of nuptials, until he falls for a kinder and gentler waitress. Unfortunately she's getting married...to someone else. What do you say to one last gig?
Rachel's job prevents her from celebrating her anniversary with Ross. Wanting more time to focus on her new job, she suggests the two take a break from their relationship. Joey and Chandler take Ross out to cheer him up. Convinced that Rachel has dumped him for a co-worker, Ross hooks up with a woman from the copy shop that Joey and Chandler have been after. Phoebe dates a diplomat who speaks no English. She convinces Monica to go out with them so the translator will have a date. When Monica and the translator hit it off Phoebe's chemistry with the diplomat comes to a halt because the two are unable to communicate.
Ross and Rachel have a new nanny (Molly), who is hot. Ross tells Joey not to go after her, which just makes him want her more. Mike discovers that Phoebe has a rat in her apartment, which she treats as a pet (or rather, as an occasional visitor for whom she puts out food). Then they discover that the rat has had babies. Mike mistakenly kills the rat, and Phoebe feels they are responsible to raise the orphans. Rachel continues to fight with her co-worker, Gavin; Monica invites him to Rachel's birthday party. Gavin comes over at the end of the party and makes a move on Rachel; they kiss. Ross is upset when he sees them his apartment, as he's cleaning up after the baby. Molly turns out to be gay.
Ross shows the gang his joke that was published in Playboy magazine. When Chandler reads it, he claims the joke is his and Ross stole it from him. Since Playboy does not print the submitter's name, Chandler and Ross continue to fight over the joke, each claiming that they are the real author. Ross and Chandler leave it up to Monica to decide who wrote the joke by hearing each of their sides. When Monica tells them she doesn't understand why either of the would want credit for writing such a horrible joke, they begin to argue that the other wrote it. Joey has become increasingly strapped for cash since Janice moved out. Gunther offers him a job at the coffeehouse, but Joey is reluctant to take it because he would have to wait on his friends. He ultimately takes the job and attempts to hide it from the group. Meanwhile, the girls discuss which one they would want to date out of the three. Phoebe makes the mistake of picking Rachel because Monica is high maintenance and Rachel is more of a pushover. They take offense and try to get Phoebe back by calling her flaky.
In an act of desperation, Rachel hastily throws together a going away party for Emily as an excuse to invite Joshua over. Even though Ross has a romantic evening planned for his last night with her, Emily enjoys the party and doesn't want to leave. Rachel spends the evening persuading Joshua to stay by performing one humiliating stunt after the other. When Rachel confesses to Joshua that she's only trying to seduce him he reveals that the feeling is mutual ... except for the fact that he's just getting over a divorce and it's too soon for him start dating again. When Joshua leaves, Rachel sulks to Ross who is also disappointed - his big night with Emily was ruined. Rachel reminds Ross that the night is still young. Just then, Joshua reappears and Rachel invites him in for coffee and... Meanwhile, Phoebe is convinced that the baby needs meat because all other foods are making her nauseous. When she can no longer resist the temptation, Phoebe makes a deal with Joey if he abstains from eating meat for the rest of her pregnancy, than Phoebe can cat his meat and it won't be so wrong.
Ross has to make an emergency trip to China for the museum, but before he goes, he leaves Rachel's birthday present with Chandler. When she is overwhelmed by it, Chandler lets it slip that when Ross fell in love with Carol, he bought her something extravagant, too, and voila, Rachel finds out how Ross feels about her. Still uncertain how she feels about him, she tries to catch Ross at the airport, but arrives after he has boarded the plane. She tries to get a message to him, but unbeknownst to Rachel, it gets delivered to the wrong guy. Then, Rachel starts to wonder if getting together with Ross is such a great idea after all. On one hand, Ross really is 'a great guy,' but on the other hand, what would things be like if they broke up? She finally decides to go for it and goes to the airport to meet Ross when he returns from China. But he gets off the plane with his new girlfriend, Julie. Meanwhile, Joey is participating in a fertility study which cramps his style with his new woman until he learns that he can simply 'be there for her.'
Monica reveals to Rachel that she has not lost her virginity and decides that her boyfriend, Dr. Roger is going to be 'the one'. She prepares a special dinner for him, with plenty of 'sensual' dishes, but their evening is cut short when Roger is paged by the hospital. Disappointed, Monica turns to her friend, Chandler for support. She realizes that she is much more comfortable with Chandler than Dr. Roger. Things become romantic between Monica and Chandler and they decide to sleep together. The next night, Monica has Dr. Roger over to the apartment and plans to sleep with him. Jealous because Monica is going to be with another man, Chandler gets rid of Dr. Roger by calling in a fake page from the hospital. Chandler and Monica realize that they want to be together. After almost having an affair with Joey, Rachel catches Barry in bed with another woman and leaves him. Phoebe learns that she has lost her job at Merrill Lynch and chooses a less stressful career, playing the guitar.
Joey is auditioning for a play and need to speak French, so he enlists Phoebe to teach him. She tries, but he just can't get it. Rachel's father has a heart attack; accompanied by Ross, she goes home to Long Island to visit him. In her vulnerable state, she asks Ross to spend the night and makes her desires very clear. He doesn't want to take advantage of her, so he leaves. Rachel is angry. Erica (the mother of Monica and Chandler's future child) comes to New York for a visit. They ask about the child's father, and find out she's not sure whether the father is the all american football player, or the convicted murderer who killed his father with a shovel. Joey thinks he can drink a gallon of milk in ten seconds.
