Anna Wintour, the legendary editor-in-chief of Vogue magazine for twenty years, is the most powerful and polarizing figure in fashion. Hidden behind her trademark bob and sunglasses, she has never allowed anyone to scrutinize the inner workings of her magazine. Until now.
With unprecedented access, filmmaker R.J. Cutler's new film THE SEPTEMBER ISSUE does for fashion what he did for politics in The War Room, taking the viewer inside a world they only think they know. Every August a record breaking number of people can't wait to get their hands on the September issue of Vogue. The 2007 issue was and remains the biggest ever, weighing over four pounds and selling thirteen million copies. An intimate, funny and surprising look at Anna Wintour and her team of larger-than-life editors as they create this must-have bible of fashion, Cutler explores the untouchable glamour of Wintour's Vogue to reveal the extraordinarily passionate people at its heart.
Sometimes elaborating on a known trend is the perfect way to establish your own look. Sarah Brown, Beauty Director at Vogue, takes the embellished collar to the next level by adding a bejeweled Lanvin necklace, giving the look texture and a sense of individuality.
Caroline Arless is out of debtor's prison and returning to Lark Rise, to the consternation of her family; Alf especially feels he must continue to put his life on hold to protect his younger siblings. Gabriel finishes work on his steam-powered seed planter, and farmers are soon clamoring to buy his invention. Dorcas fears the machine's success might take Gabriel away from Candleford.
When the Vicar falls ill, controversial and free-thinking curate Reverand Marley takes charge, causing consternation among some parishioners.
Gabriel Cochrane, the once-wealthy owner of a large iron foundry arrives in Candleford. The bank has repossessed his home and business, his young wife has died, and Gabriel finds himself looking for a new start. Dorcas extends him a hand by offering him a job and a home.
Mischief Night is approaching when residents of the towns play tricks on neighbors under cover of darkness. Meanwhile Fisher Bloom has returned, throwing Laura's feelings for Daniel into confusion. Bloom meanwhile is working on Daniel's printing press and the new station clock at Inglestone where he hears of a threat to the Candleford post office.
The fair comes to town. Alf and Minnie argue over the prize he won. Queenie and Twister disagree over a pig.
Daniel announces that his newspaper is launching a poetry competition. The news sends the inhabitants of both towns into a frenzy of creative excitement. Ruby begins a malicious rumor that would knock Laura out of the competition.
