In an act of desperation, Rachel hastily throws together a going away party for Emily as an excuse to invite Joshua over. Even though Ross has a romantic evening planned for his last night with her, Emily enjoys the party and doesn't want to leave. Rachel spends the evening persuading Joshua to stay by performing one humiliating stunt after the other. When Rachel confesses to Joshua that she's only trying to seduce him he reveals that the feeling is mutual ... except for the fact that he's just getting over a divorce and it's too soon for him start dating again. When Joshua leaves, Rachel sulks to Ross who is also disappointed - his big night with Emily was ruined. Rachel reminds Ross that the night is still young. Just then, Joshua reappears and Rachel invites him in for coffee and... Meanwhile, Phoebe is convinced that the baby needs meat because all other foods are making her nauseous. When she can no longer resist the temptation, Phoebe makes a deal with Joey if he abstains from eating meat for the rest of her pregnancy, than Phoebe can cat his meat and it won't be so wrong.
Intent on becoming an Ultimate Fighting Champion, Pete has begun his training. Monica goes to his first match, and watches Pete get destroyed. She has her concerns but Pete tells her that he's determined to succeed and hopes she believes in him. She sticks with Pete, and at his next match he's bludgeoned even worse than before. Monica visits Pete in the hospital and begs Pete to quit fighting. He won't, so Monica breaks up with him. She can't stand watching him get beaten another time. Phoebe sets Ross up with her once-bald friend Bonnie. But when the attractive Bonnie shows up with a full head of hair Rachel becomes jealous. Chandler's is disturbed when his boss repeatedly pats him on the butt after doing a good job.
At the coffeehouse, Phoebe demands to know from Ross why he didn't go through with the annulment. He explains that he couldn't go through it because his dating life will be over; no one wants to date a guy with three divorces. Phoebe walks up to three female patrons and asks them if they would date Ross, even if they knew he had three divorces. Ross explains to the women the circumstances of the three marriages and they conclude that Ross is still in love with Rachel. Meanwhile, Rachel receives a call from Ross's lawyer who tells her he is very happy Ross and her decided to give the marriage a try. Across town Ross rushes into his lawyer's office to get the marriage annulled. He must prove he is not in love with Rachel. The only problem is Ross told Rachel the annulment was final, but she must present it to be valid. Chandler and Monica get up the nerve to tell their roommates they want to live together. Joey cries and tells Monica that 'Chandler is the best roommate ever'. When Monica tells Rachel that Chandler will be moving in, Rachel shows no sign of being upset. Rachel doesn't think they will actually go through with it. When Monica assures her it will happen, Rachel is devastated. Ross shows up at the apartment to explain to Rachel about the annulment. She is visibly upset and he gives her a hug to comfort her. During their embrace, Ross realizes he might still be in love with Rachel.
An embarrassed Rachel bumps into her old sorority sister (Oscar nominee and guest star Winona Ryder, 'Little Women,' 'The Age of Innocence') and wonders whether she should confront her about a boozy incident from their college days when their friendship took a dramatic and passionate turn. In preparation for the wedding, Chandler and Ross try to out-suit each other by renting tuxedos once used by celebrities, while Monica struggles to accomodate unexpected invites, Joey's parents.
It's opening night of Joey's play and all the friends are going. When Rachel learns that Ross is bringing a date she rushes to find one. At the theater, everyone excuses themselves to the rest room leaving Ross alone with Rachel's date, Tommy. Tommy then berates an older couple for sitting in the wrong seat. Ross tries to tell everyone about Tommy's temper but they don't believe him. The show gets a terrible review and the director is destroyed. He denounces the actors and breaks up with Kate. Joey comforts Kate and the two have a wonderful evening together. Joey's in heaven, but when he returns to the theater Kate isn't there. Joey learns that Kate has landed a part on a soap opera and is moving to Los Angeles. Kate shows up for a quick good-bye and leaves Joey heartbroken. Tommy screams at Ross again when he almost spills coffee on him outside the coffee house; however, the rest of the friends were inside and didn't see a thing. No one believes Ross until they catch Tommy, thinking he's alone in Chandler's apartment, yelling at the chick for relieving himself on Tommy's hand. Phoebe misses Joey's performance because she's stuck on what she believes is a toll-free customer service line that provides no service and ends up being a long-distance call to Utah.
Fed up with Rachel's ridiculous mind games, Monica finally asks Danny to go out with Rachel. He agrees, but Rachel soon afterward sees him with another girl. She goes on the date anyway, and Danny says he'd invite her in, but his sister is visiting and she's asleep on the couch. Rachel is relieved, realizing he isn't seeing someone else. Then his sister opens the door and Danny introduces she and Rachel. She is dressed only in a shirt, and she and Danny playfully wrestle while Rachel looks on. Rachel asks Monica and Ross if they ever wrestled, and they say sure, when they were kids. Monica reveals that she was undefeated, to which Ross replies that she weighed 300 pounds. She says yeah, but she was quick as a cat. Monica adds that they don't wrestle anymore, and Ross says that's because she couldn't beat him. Monica challenges him, and the two grapple. Later at the coffee shop, the gang is there along with Danny and his sister. She is eating an eclair and offers a fingerful of the cream to Danny, who sucks it off her finger. Then she drops some of the creme onto the front of his pants, and wipes it off for him. After they leave, the gang is appalled by their questionable behavior, and Rachel decides to end it with Danny. But when she goes to his apartment, he defends his close relationship with his sister, and asks why Rachel is so threatened by it. Just as Rachel begins to soften, his sister calls from the bathroom for Danny to hurry up, the bath is getting cold, and Rachel makes a beeline for the door.
Chandler buys Kathy a rare copy of her favorite book 'The Velveteen Rabbit' for her birthday. When Joey shows everyone his gift for Kathy, a pen that tells time, Chandler T that he can't let Joey give her a gift that's not as great as the one he got for her. Ultimately, Chandler has Joey give Kathy the book, but she knows who really bought her the special gift. Meanwhile, Monica borrows money from Phoebe so as to get her catering business off the ground. When she has trouble collecting the payment, Phoebe confronts the client for Monica -- the two realize that they make a great team. Rachel strives to finish a crossword puzzle all by herself, but really gets her answers by asking the gang random questions. Ross falls for a beautiful paleontologist -- that is until he discovers that she's a slob.
The guys ride along with Gary when he's patrolling, and find themselves in a desperate situation. While staking out a suspect, they hear a shot, and Joey dives in front of Ross. Chandler is hurt that Joey chose to save Ross rather than him, his own roommate. The guys relay the story back at the coffee house, where it turns out they didn't hear a gun shot, but instead a car backfiring. But Ross is convinced he narrowly escaped death, and that Joey risked his own life. Back at their apartment, Chandler confronts Joey, demanding to know why he chose to dive in front of Ross. Joey reluctantly admits that he wasn't trying to save Ross, he dove to save his sandwich, which was next to Ross. To show Chandler how much he means to him, Joey allows him one bite of his sandwich, and all is well. Meanwhile, Rachel and Monica go to Ross's apartment to retrieve their blender, but while there, hear Emily leaving a message on his answering machine. She's supposed to be getting married the next day but is having doubts, and is wondering if she and Ross gave up on their relationship too quickly. The girls accidentally erase the message, so Rachel decides she has to tell Ross about Emily's call.
Phoebe's former boyfriend returns for one night only, but Joey could ruin their plans. Monica plots revenge on her cousin's wedding day.
Ross and Rachel have been fighting for the group's attention since the break up. Ross has purchased a home entertainment center. Rachel invites everyone (except Ross) to her family cabin in the mountains. Chandler starts smoking again as a result of the break-up, just as he started when his parents got a divorce. As they make their way to the cabin, the car runs out of gas. Everyone wants to call Ross for help, but Rachel won't let them. Phoebe ultimately reaches Ross, who's spending time with Carol and Susan since he feels his friends have abandoned him, and he comes to their rescue. Ross and Rachel decided to be civil around each other.
The One With Rachel's Crush
Ross and Chandler go to see Kathy perform in a play, but they didn't expect to see her physically 'perform.' A jealous Chandler begins to wonder if there's something going on off stage between Kathy and her handsome co-star. When Joey theorizes that poor chemistry on stage translates to major chemistry off stage, Chandler accuses Kathy of cheating, even though he can't really prove anything. When everyone laughs at Chandler for listening to Joey' s theory, he goes to Kathy's apartment to make up with her, only to find her in bed with her costar. She explains that nothing was going on, but since Chandler dumped her, she figured what the hell. Meanwhile, Rachel wants to desperately date a client at work. The guys tell her to entice him with something he can't refuse ... like tickets to a basketball game. When she tells him she has tickets, the client accepts them and takes his nephew instead of Rachel.
Feeling handy, Joey builds and entertainment center for his apartment with questionable success. Monica then recruits him to fix her bathroom floor, a project Joey's not quite able to accomplish. The friends come up with a 'freebie list'-- a list of celebrities each would sleep with, given the opportunity, regardless of being in a relationship. Ross then runs in to an actress on his list and he awkwardly attempts to pick her up. Phoebe spends time with her half-brother, Frank, who mistakenly thinks Phoebe is a prostitute.
