On her deathbed, Colleen gathers her family at the B&B to say good-bye. She reveals she has battled cancer for years and the end is near. An unemotional John remains flippant about his newfound mother. Colleen shares a touching farewell with Bo, Hope, Kayla, Marlena, Belle, Shawn and Grandpa Shawn. She implores John to give her a final hug. He relents and she dies in her son's arms. In private, John grapples with his complicated feelings. Unable to reach the Bradys, Lexie calls Philip, who updates her on the situation with Colleen. He and Chloe bond while the Bradys visit with their dying relative. After Colleen passes away, Philip tells Kayla about Lexie's call. Kayla gets in touch with her, and Lexie informs her that she's pregnant! Shawn and Belle agree to try making their marriage work.

Bo and Hope have spent the night with Chelsea in her hospital room. Bo is devastated by the news that Chelsea can never have children. He blames himself and feels terribly guilty. Hope and Chelsea have a heart to heart where they finally come to terms about their past. Daniel tells Lexie he has become too emotionally involved with Chelsea. Lexie guesses this means he's resigning from Chelsea's case. Daniel thinks it is for the best. He leaves the hospital without saying goodbye to Chelsea. John and Marlena learn Victor has Brady tucked away in a rehab facility in Switzerland and framed Chloe for his disappearance. John and Victor get into it over Victor playing god with Brady's life. John gets called to the police station for questioning over bribery charges. Paul Hollingsworth is brought in and Morgan is with him. Philip shows up and gets into it with John. Both John and Paul deny doing anything illegal. John claims he's making an honest living. The police have nothing to hold them on and Paul and John leave

Bo and Chelsea are both being prepped for the experimental transplant surgery. Kayla will be assisting Daniel with Bo's transplant and Lexie will be doing the surgery on Chelsea. Hope has alone time with an unconscious Bo. Then the other family members file in to wish him well. The doctors scrub for the operation. They talk about the surgery and how it is still an experimental procedure. Bo's pancreatic condition makes him a perfect candidate. The O.R. is filled with tension as they all wish each other luck. Chelsea is with Kate when Daniel comes in and warns her of what lies ahead. She is risking her life. Chelsea is fine with that and ready to go. She wants to save her father's life. Daniel's impressed. He leaves. Alone with her grandmother, Chelsea reveals how scared she really is. Max, Stephanie and Nick come in to comfort her. Hope thanks Chelsea for doing this for Bo. They return to the B&B, where Marlena reveals to everyone that John is the son of Colleen and Santo. Belle bonds with her grandmother, who gives her the Celtic medallion. Colleen confesses to Grandpa Shawn that she's dying. Philip continues to question Chloe about whether she had anything to do with Brady's kidnapping. Chloe maintains her innocence. Philip asks if she'll stay with Brady if he's found, and she admits that even though she loves her husband, she's not sure they can work through their problems. Kayla and Steve worry about talking to Hope. They warn Bo that he needs to fill her in about the illness soon. Hope questions Shawn about his future with Belle. Stephanie and Chelsea thank Max for coming forward with Ford's body, but they feel guilty that Max is now in trouble with the law. Morgan arrives and informs Chelsea that the sorority must decide whether or not to kick her out for betray

In Ireland, John, Marlena, Bo, Hope, Shawn, Belle, Philip and Chloe question the not-so-dead Colleen. Colleen reveals she faked her death - she never jumped off that cliff. She ran away from Santo, and even though she was angry with him, she hoped she was doing him a favor by forcing him to return to his wife. She moved from Ireland to South America, where she eventually became a successful seamstress. She finally earned enough money to inquire about her family in Salem and learned of Stefano's vendetta against the Bradys. Colleen confides she took Claire to stop Stefano from hurting more of her loved ones. She orders Crystal to bring Claire into the room, and the little girl is reunited with her parents. Colleen reveals she also tried to protect Brady, but he disappeared before her people could get to him. Chelsea and Stephanie thank Max for coming forward with Ford's body but feel guilty that he will probably have to face the consequences. Nick assures them they all did the right thing.
