In the laboratory of Dr. Geiger (Peter Jurasik), his lab assistant (Robert Floyd) is preparing for a mysterious experiment. A laser gun fires at him and he vanishes. At the same time, Rembrandt (Cleavant Derricks), Maggie (Kari Wuhrer), Quinn and Colin are getting ready to slide out of a dangerous situation, but something goes wrong in the vortex. Maggie and Rembrandt make it out of the slide, but Quinn and Colin have vanished.

The Sliders arrive in a peaceful small town and see that a company named Data Universal seems to own everything. Maggie (Kari Wuhrer) tries to use a vending machine, but it doesn't take cash. Instead, an electronic voice asks for her data number. When she presses a button, a laser beam scans her. Suddenly a driverless van pulls up and she is propelled into it by the force of the laser. It speeds away as the others watch in disbelief. She finds herself trapped in a pristine white cell, a bar code bracelet strapped to her wrist.

In a satellite monitoring station, a military officer calls Dr. Jariabek (Krzysztof Pieczynski) to inform him that a radiation-emitting pulsar is heading toward Earth. Before she can finish, however, someone sticks a needle in her neck and then injects himself with the fluid. The Sliders land in a city besieged by looters, as defense sirens wail. They come across a vagrant, who blames the Russians. Apparently, the Cold War has not ended in this dimension. Suddenly, a car races around the corner, flipping and exploding. The Sliders try to rescue the driver, who mumbles something about a trajectory being wrong. As he dies, the Sliders notice blood seeping from a gunshot wound. Arturo (John Rhys-Davies) recognizes the man as Dr. Jariabek, a noted cosmologist. Another car pulls up, and Captain Maggie Beckett (Kari Wuhrer) and two soldiers jump out with guns drawn, demanding to know if Jariabek said anything.

A man wearing a gas mask picks flowering plants from a foggy forest, when he is set upon by a group of the natives. They cut the hose, and watch him die, gasping. Shortly, the Sliders land in the forest and all but Maggie (Kari Wuhrer) start coughing and gasping. She leads them out of the fog, which ends at the forest line. Deep within the fog, the natives, accompanied by Colonel Rickman (Neil Dickson), watch their struggle. Later, when Maggie returns from exploring the fog, Quinn (Jerry O'Connell) berates her for leaving the group and demands that she stay with the team. They enter a nearby rustic town, inhabited by a simple, unmodern people and they encounter Adra (Oona Hart), a blind seer, as she reads tarot cards. When she touches Quinn's face, she gets a vision -- he is a sacrificial victim for the natives -- and warns them to leave town. Rembrandt (Cleavant Derricks) thinks it's nonsense, but Wade (Sabrina Lloyd) wants to find out more.

As the Sliders escape from a jungle world where flying parasites are swarming over them, Maggie (Kari Wuhrer) is attacked by one. Quinn (Jerry O Connell) rips it away, and they slide to the next world, where Maggie collapses with green foam bubbling from her mouth. Paramedics soon arrive on the scene, blasting Maggie's body with frozen nitrogen. Now in suspended animation, they take her away to a hospital. Upon arriving at the hospital, the group finds that Dr. Sylvius (Dawnn Lewis) has been put in charge of the frozen Maggie. She shows them Maggie's x-ray, revealing something in her stomach. With the group distracted by the x-ray, Maggie rises from the cot and escapes through the ventilation ducts undetected.

The mother of undertaker Mario Bellini (Adrien Brody) would like to see him married, but the ladies aren't especially entranced by his funeral parlor -- where profits are soaring due to an ongoing mob war. To bring peace, Alberto (Burt Young), boss of the Strachitella family, has his gun-wielding brother Rocco (Jeff Wincott) bumped off. But it's only a staged death, and Mario is told to hide Rocco at the funeral home. Mario takes an interest in Rocco's wife Maria (Kari Wuhrer). Rocco can't keep away from Mario's girlfriend Louise (Holly Gagnier). Maria goes into a murderous rage when she discovers Rocco has been cheating on her. Tyler Briggs (Michael Vartan) returns home for his mother's funeral only to encounter the redneck side of the family -- his estranged father Gus (Marshall Bell), his two drug-addled, burned-out half-brothers, and their shady friend Teddy (Denis Leary). Sniffing money, Gus wants to reestablish contact with his son, whom he abandoned with his mother 20 years previous, but Tyler wants nothing to do with him or the useless brothers. Tyler settles into a small coastal California town, where he meets the lovely Sandy (Kari Wuhrer) and her brother Jack (Norman Reedus). But Gus and the gang turn up, and Sandy becomes the victim of an attempted rape by Tyler's dimwitted scuzzbucket brothers. During the first two seasons of the Fox series Sliders, college student Quinn Mallory (Jerry O'Connell) and his companions Prof. Arturo (John Rhys-Davies), Wade (Sabrina Lloyd) and Rembrandt (Cleavant Derricks) have used the time-sliding device created by Quinn to pop up in various alternate versions of contemporary San Francisco, all the while endeavoring to return to their own world. Beginning with season three, the sliding device has been modified so that the foursome will be able to emerge in countries and worlds other than San Francisco -- meaning, in many cases, alternate editions of the universe. The two-part episode The Exodus introduces Kari Wuhrer as Captain Maggie Beckett, a slider from another world whose husband has been killed by the sinister Col. Angus Rickman (played variously by Roger Daltrey and Neil Dickson), who has been hopping through time and space to drain the intelligences of innocent victims in order to save his own diseased brain. This preposterous thriller stars Tom Berenger (Platoon) as Ernie Dewalt, a drug-addicted ex-cop with a catheter, and that isn't the worst of it. Ernie teaches creative writing at a small college where prominent professor Alex Laughton (Stephen Lang) has been blown apart with a shotgun while groping the frequently nude Jeri Kari Wuhrer in a car on Lover's Lane. Laughton's widow, Elizabeth (Valeria Golino) drags the reluctant Ernie out of retirement to clear her name, as she is the prime suspect. When he's not mainlining drugs or trading japes with investigating detective Robert Davi, Ernie is haunted by visions of Jeri, taunting him about his incompetence. It's not really Jeri, of course, and may even be the spirit of his former alcoholism, but the plot is so muddled that it's hard to tell. Ernie has a vision of himself snapping nude photos of Jeri and Laughton having sex in a field; Elizabeth is loudly whispered about in the local supermarket; and the ridiculous resolution will please no one.
